Welcome to Soundsmith -- dedicated to delivering vinyl's musical zenith at less than stratospheric prices.
Soundsmith is a 35 year old mentoring company founded by Peter Ledermann, a veteran audio designer and inventor. Peter's background includes Director of Engineering at the Bozak Corportion, one of the founding icons in the audio industry. Prior to his tenure at Bozak, Peter was a design engineer with RAM Audio with Richard Majestic. Peter was also a Senior Research Engineer for many years at the lprestigious IBM T. J. Watson Research Center and holds 11 IBM patents.
As President and Chief Designer for Soundsmith, Peter has developed and produced numerous novel phono chartridges, power amplifiers, preamplifiers, loudspeakers, sub-woofers, and adjustable speaker stands, to name a few. We also refurbish classic hi-fi audio components, upgrading their electronics and mechanicals in the process. Peter is also the sole high end cartridge retipper in North America.
At T.H.E. Show 2008, Soundsmith is pleased to showcase its recently announced production version of the Strain Gauge Cartridge System -- hailed by owners and reviewers as possibly the best cartridge in the world today. Another remarkable Soundsmith cartridge -- The Voice, a high-compliance moving iron design -- is credited with being as good as or better than moving coil cartridges costing 3 to 5 times as much. These cartridges are mounted on a VPI HRX turntable, fitted with a Shroeder "Reference" tonearm.
We are also presenting our line of highly acclaimed Firefly boodshelf speakers -- the Dragonfly and the Monarch, and are announcing our new 150 watt per channel power amplifier. Silver Circle Audio provides the Pure Power One 5.0 power conditioner and high-end interconnects and loudspeaker cables.
